Updates on the Dragon’s Breath Series (now on all major retailers)

I’ve got a few updates for you all on the Dragon’s Breath Series.  First, it is no longer in KU (Kindle Unlimited), and I’ve just uploaded books 1 & 2 onto the other retailers (Nook, Kobo, and iTunes).  For those wondering, I don’t have any plans to put it back in KU in the near future.  If you are one of the individuals who has been waiting for the novels to be available outside of Amazon, you will find purchase links to the first book (Stalked by Flames) below.  Thanks for being so patient on this.

NOOK     KOBO     ITUNES

Next, I’m on the later stages of edits for Forged by Flames, but it is taking a little longer than expected to finish.  This is mostly because I’ve stretched myself a bit thin trying to get too many things done around the same time.  I’ve also had edits with the Kerbasi holiday story, cover and promo design stuff, forming the Facebook fan group, handling various correspondence from my publishers (I’ve got a French book release on the 28th and Dancing with Flames just came out in audio last week), and the list goes on.  It’s been more than a little hectic.

Having said that, I am getting close to finished.  If there’s a delay in publishing book 3, it probably won’t be more than a day or two.  This is just to give me some breathing room to make certain the novel looks good before I publish it for the masses. I will post another update sometime on Wednesday, and should I not be able to release it on the 27th, I will at least put up the first few chapters to read here on the blog so you can get started.  The actual book release would follow within a couple of days after that.

In addition to everything else, I am also participating in a Halloween Facebook party with a bunch of other UF authors.  While it starts on November 26th, my day for posting contests with prizes isn’t until the 30th (must have Forged by Flames ready before then!).

I have got some tote bags with the newest book cover on them, a pewter dragon figurine, and other awesome things I’ll be giving out.  Don’t miss your chance to possibly win some of these prizes and join the party.  Here’s the link:  https://www.facebook.com/events/172431569855039/

And that’s all for now.  I’m off to get some more work done!

Cover reveal for Forged by Flames

I am pleased to finally reveal the cover for the next novel in the Dragon’s Breath Series, Forged by Flames.  Those of you who joined my new Facebook fan group already got to see it yesterday and chat with myself and the cover model, but for everyone else this is it!

MODEL– Rahela Mahmood

You can add the book to your Goodreads TBR list here:  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32593209-forged-by-flames

I am very pleased with how the design turned out.  Jeff Brown did a fantastic job with the artwork and making the cover look exactly like I wanted. He totally worked from scratch, though I did ask him to put a post-apocalyptic look to downtown Oklahoma City in the background.

The photo shoot went really well, too.  Below, you can see some behind-the-scenes pics with myself, the model (Rahela), photographer (Josh), make-up artist (Celeste) and her helper (Mauri).  It was a lot of fun.  We also got tons of images for future covers and promo art, one of which has already been added to my new website banner.  Another is currently running around as a Facebook ad some of you might have seen.  I personally designed the website banner and ad, though, so if you don’t like them that’s all on me.  I’m slowly getting the hang of Photoshop!

Note- The first photos in black and white were taken by the photographer.  The ones in color were taken by me on my phone.

Dragon’s Breath Series News

I’ve got a few updates for you all on the Dragon’s Breath series.  A lot of people are wanting a date they can mark on their calendars for when future books will come out.  Also, I’m still getting asked about audio for Dancing with Flames.  Plus, I’ve got news about upcoming holiday novellas.

Forged by Flames release date and cover info

My goal is to have the novel out on October 27th.  It’s looking like it will be at least as long as Dancing with Flames, maybe longer.

I don’t have a cover for it yet because I’ve had to switch photographers and models (long story).  This means getting all new shots done for the rest of the series (which is going to be at least 5-6 more books).  On a bright note, I’ll be using a team in the Oklahoma City area so I can actually be at the photo shoot, whereas before everything took place in Boston, MA.  Other than one especially long trip, I couldn’t make it up there.  I have the photo shoot scheduled for the middle of this month, and I’m in the midst of getting wardrobe and props organized for it.  As my team of helpers can testify (thank God for their help), there is a lot that goes into these because you have to plan the poses, mood of the shots, and which garments/props the model will be using.

It will take at least a week or so after the photo shoot for the photographer to get me the final images.  I’ll pick the ones I like and get those to the cover designer to start work.  For the dragon series, all the artwork is done from scratch so it can take another week or two for the artist to finish the design.  Then I’ll have to have typography added.  So the cover reveal will be much closer to the release date than what I normally do but please hang in there.  I think this next cover is going to turn out awesome based on what we have planned.

Dancing with Flames audio

The audiobook is set to release on October 18th.  Marguerite Gavin (the narrator) has had a rather full schedule, but she tweeted recently that she’d started recording the book.  Those of you who are waiting for the audio don’t have too much longer to go!

Holiday novellas

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I would be re-releasing the Kerbasi holiday story that was originally part of an anthology.  That will be coming out on November 28th.  I will probably put up a pre-order for that one once I have the cover designed.

The Dragon’s Breath series will also be getting its first holiday novella.  Book 3 (Forged by Flames) takes place from late November into early December.  The Christmas novella I’m going to write will start about a couple of weeks after that on the series timeline.  It will focus on what it’s like to celebrate the holidays in a post-apocalyptic world, and it will be a bit lighter than the main series novels.  My plan is to make it somewhere between 30-40k words so it will be longer than any of the other holiday stories I’ve written so far. I’m hoping it will be meaty enough to have a paperback version as well for those who’d want it.

My design helper team and I have some fun plans for the cover.  It’s definitely going to have a Christmas with dragons sort of theme.  The expected release date for it is December 15th.

That’s it for now.  Hope you all have a wonderful week!

July updates

I hope everyone is having a great summer (or winter if you’re in Australia).  I’ve got a few updates for you all including a price promotion, upcoming author interviews, and news on future books.  First off, though, I want to thank everyone who has picked up a copy of Dancing with Flames and especially those who have been kind enough to leave reviews.  All the feedback has been wonderful so far, and I’m glad everyone is enjoying the new Dragon’s Breath series book!

As of now until August 31st, Amazon UK is running a £0.99 summer price promo on Stalked by Flames.  If you haven’t already picked up your copy and you shop on the UK site, this is the time to grab it.  *UPDATE* It appears it is .99 in the other European countries as well so those of you in Germany, France, etc can get the ebook copy at a discount too.  I’m not sure if this includes VAT or not since that won’t show from my computer in the U.S.

Also, I am beginning a series of author interviews for popular writers who have novels in the same genres as I do.  There will be a different author featured each Friday.  I will be putting them on the spot, giving them a series of fun questions to choose from such as “What is the longest you’ve ever stayed awake?”, “What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?”,  and “If you could witness any event in history, what would it be?” and plenty more.  Each one will vary a bit depending on which questions the author chooses to answer, but I hope this gives you all an opportunity to meet new authors or get to know the ones you already follow better than before.

Some of them will also be doing giveaways with their interviews that you don’t want to miss!  Below is the schedule for July and August, though there are more set to come after that which I’ll announce when the time gets closer:

July 8th- Christine Pope
July 15th- Colleen Gleason
July 22nd- Dannika Dark
July 29th- Hailey Edwards
Aug 5th- Anthea Sharp
Aug 12th- Donna Augustine
Aug 19th- Carolynn Gockel
Aug 26th- Jovee Winters

As for news on Forged by Flames (book 3 of the Dragon’s Breath series), I am looking at a release date around October 27th, 2016.  This isn’t quite set in stone yet, but that’s what I’m shooting for at the moment. I’ll keep you updated as I make progress with the novel.  Also, there may or may not be a Christmas novella to come after that in December *wink, wink* where we have some post-apocalyptic festivities with the Dragon’s Breath series characters.

Dancing with Flames is now available!

I’m pleased to announce that Dancing with Flames is now available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.  This novel turned out to be a fun one for me, and I really enjoyed writing it.  There are a lot of twists and turns, a bit of romance, and plenty of action.  For those who have been wanting to see Bailey in action now that she’s a full dragon slayer, you’ll definitely get it.  For those who were wanting to see more of the dragon/shifter world, there’s a lot more of that in the novel as well. There should be something in the story for everyone.

In the back of the ebook, you will be able to find a glossary of dragon terms and a list of the dragon clans with descriptions of which territories they each inhabit.  I’ve put those there for anyone who would like them as a reference while reading.  If you would prefer to be able to print the list of dragon terms and clans, you are welcome to email me at [email protected] and I’ll send you the Word document.  I also plan to add them to my website very soon.

Below are the rest of the book details, plus retailer links.  Hope everyone has a great day and a lovely weekend!

Dancing with Flames cover (large)SUMMARY:

Four months ago, fire-breathing dragons invaded Earth from an alternate dimension, wreaking havoc on modern civilization. Bailey Monzac has been training to kill them ever since discovering she was impervious to their flames, but when some of the beasts begin targeting children, she can’t hold back any longer and must hunt them down.

Her ally, Aidan, would help, except the shape-shifter has his own troubles. His clan is battling for territory against the pure dragons and his father—their leader—is dying. As the shifters fight for the pendragon position, fierce rivalry takes over. Aidan’s own brothers aren’t above blackmail and murder if it will get them to the top. He must stay one step ahead if he is to survive and keep his clan safe from the pure dragons who threaten them all.

Bailey and Aidan may be natural-born enemies, but working together might be the only thing that saves them from the danger that lies ahead.
